Lancefield
14 Oct 2023 10:00 – 15 Oct 2023 15:00
PLEASE NOTE: 1. This Event has now been POSTPONED for 2 weeks because of the cold weather forecast for 14 & 15 October. 2. This event is now FULLY BOOKED FOR THE "OVERNIGHT WEEKEND" sorry, and there are 4 people on the Waitlist.  As of last Sunday 1st Oct the "Saturday Walk Only" tickets have fully sold out too. Unfortunately we have now had to close the Waitlist as there is very little chance that anyone else will be able to attend, with 4 people still on the Waitlist. The next event for this venue is scheduled for around the end of March or beginning of April 2024. __________________ This is a weekend and bushwalk for naturists. The walk is of medium difficulty through the back hills of our host's very large property - we have never walked to this area before. From the quite high hills you can see into the valley where the Hume Freeway runs and even further across to Mt Hickey sitting on the horizon. If we are hot when we finish we can cool off in the creek swimming pool, or warm up in the spa or in front of the open fire, all in our birthday suits. In the evening we will be able to relax with a BBQ dinner, spa, massage, and socialising around an open fire. Please Note: Running naturist walks in Spring is quite risky weatherwise. Should Sat & Sun 14 & 15 Oct be totally unsuitable weather, our backup dates for this event are Sat & Sun 28 & 29 Oct. GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Medium 6 to 7 km naturist circuit walk. There will be walking through grassy paddocks along sheep and kangaroo pads. The hills are moderate and not that steep. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: SATURDAY WALK: This walk is for naturists. We will meet and unload the cars at the overnight farmhouse anytime between 10am and 10:30am. Hot drinks and nibbles will be available until 11am. We will then have a briefing for the day and do a short car pool to the start of the walk. Lunch will be eaten at a good spot along the way when we get hungry. After lunch we will continue on for a bit to get more views and then circle around to get back to the cars to return to the farmhouse. If the day is hot we can then go for a nude swim in the lovely Mollison Creek swimming hole, or if cool have a soak in the hot tub. There will be drinks and snacks available at the farmhouse after the walk. It is planned to start the BBQ around 6pm. OVERNIGHT: Optional evening BBQ, overnight, breakfast and lunch at the farmhouse. After the Saturday walk we have been invited back for further naturist socialising at the very comfortable farmhouse with its great open fire. There will also be a spa and massage tables to use. SLEEPING: For those staying overnight, there is floor space for 14 people in the house. There is carpeted floor space in the library, lounge room and dining room - please BYO sleeping bag, sleeping mat/lilo, pillow etc. There is a spare double air mattress, a single air mattress, one spare doona, some blankets, a few sleeping bags and a couple of spare foam sleeping mats at the property. Or if you like, you can put up your tent on the back lawn. There is also room for campervans etc. BBQ: BYO meat and drinks. Basic salads and bread will be supplied. Dinner desserts or morning tea snacks would be appreciated. TOWELS: Please BYO towels about 3 or 4 of them. 1. for sitting on. 2. for the massage table. 3. for your shower or spa. 4. after swimming. SUNDAY MORNING SHORT WALK: For those who would like a further walk, we will arrange a short walk either to the Gorge, along picturesque Mollison Creek or elsewhere in the area. This will be followed by lunch to eat up the spare food. BOOKING: By Wednesday 11th October. To register, click on Get Tickets. Choose the ticket that provides the options you wish to participate in. RSVP FOR OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION: If you wish to stay overnight, you will need to SEND AN EMAIL TO COLIN, our farmhouse host, on LeaderColinP.thenomadsinc@mail.tidyhq.com to book your accommodation. Please state what accommodation you would like - floor, tent or campervan. Please also include a contact phone number. Sleeping places in the house are limited to 14. The number of people staying overnight is limited to 22 so that we can all sit down to eat inside the house. There is no limit on tents and campervans. Unsure if you've already booked? Click View my bookings. COST: There are two ticket types available for this event. Please choose the ticket that suits your wishes. 1. Walk & overnight with bbq, spa, massage, breakfast: Nomads members $30 | Non-members $35 2. Walk only: Nomads members $0 | Non-members $5 The cost of the overnight tickets covers the cost of a spa for all those staying overnight. Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided at the farmhouse on Saturday morning. If you'd like egg and bacon sandwiches/rolls and a latte etc before you arrive at the farmhouse on Saturday morning, the best place to get these would be from a cafe in the towns of Romsey or Lancefield. Sandwiches for Saturday lunch are generally available from the Ampol Petrol Station Foodary in Romsey, 29-31 Main St Romsey. Sandwiches are also available at the Shell Service Station in Lancefield (hiding on the bottom shelf in their fridge), though the Romsey sandwiches are better. High Country Cycling: Wodonga - Tallangatta - Shelley - Yackandandah - Wangaratta
Wodonga Railway Station (Wodonga)
13 Oct 2023 10:30 – 17 Oct 2023 16:00
Enjoy an extended, scenic cycling tour on the High Country Rail Trail between Wodonga and Shelley (formerly Victoria’s highest railway station), the brand new Osbornes Flat to Beechworth Rail Trail, part of the Mountains to the Murray Rail Trail between Beechworth and Wangaratta, as well as some scenic roads from Huon via Tangambalanga and Kiewa to Osbornes Flat. If you have limited annual leave available, it will be possible to join on Saturday 14 October, and/or to exit the tour on Monday 16 October. ** Maximum 10 attendees ** GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Medium to hard grade cycling of between 40 and 63 km per day. There will be wildly varying surfaces encountered, including a bone-jarring, unsealed section near Shelley, sealed and unsealed rail trails, and some on-road sections, including about 4 km on a relatively busy highway.  ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: This trip is designed to be accessed via public transport, but if you prefer you can drive to Wodonga, carrying your bike on your vehicle. The group will aim to catch an early train departing from Southern Cross Station at 7:07am on Friday, arriving in Wodonga at 10:27am. If you can't manage that, or we can't get all our bikes on the early train, there are alternative options for catching trains on Friday (departing from Southern Cross at 12:04pm, arriving in Wodonga at 3:24pm or departing at 6:02pm, arriving in Wodonga at 9:22pm), or to catch the Saturday train departing at 7:07am. On Friday (optional day) we will explore some of the urban trails in the Albury-Wodonga region, with lunch probably at the River Deck Cafe, 48 Noreuil Parade, Albury. Our Friday night accommodation is in cabins at the Wodonga Caravan and Cabin Park.  On Saturday we'll cycle along the High Country Rail Trail to Tallangatta, staying overnight at the Tallangatta Hotel. That trail is totally sealed except for a few kilometres at Huon. On Sunday we'll participate in a festive day organised by Rail Trails Australia. Departing at 9am, we and our bikes will be transported up to Shelley, which until it closed was Victoria's highest railway station. We will then cycle approximately 43 km down from Shelley to Tallangatta, including a particularly bone-jarring section at the start. Included in the festivities will be a lavish morning tea at Koetong, lunch in the Tallangatta Valley, then afternoon tea upon return to Tallangatta. (If anybody doesn't wish to participate in the festivities, it will be possible to cycle part or all of the trail up to Shelley, or have a day of leisure around Tallangatta). We'll stay overnight at the Tallangatta Hotel once again. On Monday we'll cycle back along the rail trail as far as Huon, at which point we'll take a quiet road to Tangambalanga. This will include the steepest ascent of the tour. From Tangambalanga we'll continue cycling on roads to Osbornes Flat, including about 4 km on the busy Kiewa Valley Highway, for which there are no alternative options. Once we leave the highway, we'll be gradually climbing up to Osbornes Flat, with a few undulations along the way. From Osbornes Flat we'll take the brand new rail trail to Yackandandah, where we'll stay overnight in cabins at the Yackandandah Holiday Park. We'll probably dine at the Star Hotel, 30 High St, Yackandandah. (Alternative: If you need to return to Melbourne early, you can ride back along the rail trail from Huon to Wodonga to catch a V/Line train). Tuesday will be the longest cycling day (62 km), but the first few kilometres after Beechworth will be seriously downhill, hence cycled quite rapidly and easily. We'll aim to leave Yackandandah by 9am, which should enable us to catch the 1:44pm train from Wangaratta, arriving at Southern Cross Station by 4:30pm. BOOKING: By Monday 9th October, or ASAP to ensure you don't miss out - accommodation is limited to a maximum of 10 people. To register click on Get Tickets. Unsure if you've already booked? Click View my bookings. FURTHER INFORMATION:  High Country Rail Trail: lots of information about the rail trail between Wodonga and Shelley via Tallangatta Murray to Mountains Rail Trail: Information about the trail from Wangaratta to Beechworth and/or Bright MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 6:45am at Southern Cross Station to catch the service that departs at 7:07am.  Option 1: Train departing from Southern Cross Station at 7:07am on Friday, arriving in Wodonga at 10:27am. Option 2: Train departing from Southern Cross at 6:02pm on Friday, arriving in Wodonga at 9:22pm. Option 3: Your own vehicle, meeting up with the group in Albury/Wodonga as arranged with the event leader. Option 4: Train departing from Southern Cross at 7:07am on Saturday, arriving in Wodonga at 10:27am. MAP REFERENCE: Southern Cross Station: Melway map 2E grid K6 | Google map goo.gl/maps/X5Grxth8Bb25TLEdA.  DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: 330 km, approximately 3 hours 35 minutes via the M31/Hume Freeway. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: The 7:07am Albury train that departs from Southern Cross Station at 7:07am terminates in Albury at 11:03am (see MEETING TIME | LOCATION for alternative options). There are only 9 designated bike spaces on each train, and no way to reserve those, so it pays to arrive 30 minutes prior to the train departure time to be at the front of the (virtual) queue. To return to Melbourne, we'll be aiming to catch the service that departs from Wangaratta at 1:44pm, arriving at Southern Cross at 4:36pm. Alternatively, we could catch the train departing from Wangaratta at 6:20pm, arriving at Southern Cross at 9:48pm. FOOD: Carry snacks and a litre of water. We'll organise meals as a group. The meal plans are: Friday lunch: Probably at the River Deck Cafe, 48 Noreuil Parade, Albury.  Friday evening: A pub or cafe in Wodonga. You could optionally purchase a light breakfast from the Tallangatta Bakery, 39 Towong St, Tallangatta, and a light meal from a cafe or pub in Tallangatta. Cost for each cabin: $120 for two adults + $10 per extra adult (but the cabin 3 base rate is $130). TRAIN: This route is outside the Myki Zone, so you'll need to reserve your seats in advance. Travel anywhere in Victoria is now capped at $7.20 full / $3.60 concession on weekends, and $10 full / $5 concession on weekdays. FOOD: Everybody will be responsible for individually ordering and paying for whatever food they want.  SUNDAY FESTIVITIES: Cost will be $80 to $90, which will include transport of yourself plus bike to Shelley, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Mixed Naturist 10 Pin Bowling, Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne
Box Hill
19:30 – 22:00
GOOD NEWS, WE HAVE REACHED THE MINIMUM NUMBERS. THE EVENT IS DEFINITELY GOING AHEAD. BOOK NOW BEFORE TICKETS ARE ALL SOLD. Join us for a fun evening of nude 10 pin bowling at a location in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. We have hired the entire venue. The event is open to Nomads members and visitors. Ticket holders will receive address details of the venue by Wednesday 20th September 2023. Location given is approximate. We are only able to share the venue details, including the suburb, with confirmed ticket holders. DINNER AFTER THE BOWLING: Some of us may like to go for dinner after the Bowling night, so we have booked a table with a local Chinese Cafe/Restaurant in Box Hill - everyone is invited to come along. The table is booked for us under the name of "Russell" from 10.20pm to midnight. You will have to wear your clothes in this venue, sorry. If you could send an email to Russell and Michael to let us know that you would like to come along that would help with the seating arrangements. Please send your email to Assistant Leader Russell. The restaurant is Hills BBQ Noodle Shop, 586 Station St, Box Hill. There is some parking in Station St and also around the corner in Bank St.  See you there. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: We will meet out the front of the venue at 7.30pm if the weather is fine, or inside the foyer if it is raining. Please do not block the entrance, as other patrons may be leaving the building. We would ask that everyone is respectful of the venue staff, who are assisting us to make this event happen. Facemasks are not required to be worn but you may wear a mask if you would prefer. Hand sanitiser will be provided. Once introductions are completed, we will proceed to the bowling area. When advised by the Event Leader, everyone may then undress. All clothes can be left at the rear of the bowling alley. You may wish to bring a small bag for your clothes. There should be no problem with security, but we recommend that you do not bring valuables into the venue, as we are unable to take responsibility for any losses. The time allocated for bowling is 8pm until 10pm. Bowling shoes will be provided for all. You will each be able to select a suitable bowling ball to use during the evening, and then can join in with others at any one of the lanes. Do not worry if you are on your own, we will ensure that everyone finds a group to bowl with. You do not need to be experienced in 10 pin bowling. This is all about having fun with like minded people. Depending on the number of bowlers at each lane, you can typically expect to complete up to two games. There will be a small competition with prizes which will be awarded based on the individual scores of the first game.  In order to maintain everyone's privacy, please note that no photographs will be permitted except as advised by the Event Leader on the night. Phones are not to be used during the evening, and we thank you for assisting us with this. Please see the Event Leader if you have any concerns. It would be appreciated if everyone could promptly depart the venue at 10pm. We would welcome the assistance of a few people to help the organisers with packing up after the night. BOOKING: By 1pm on Saturday 23rd September 2023. To register, click on Get Tickets. Tickets may sell out for this event, so book early. Tickets will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. No tickets will be available for purchase at the venue. Ticket prices for this event are the same for Nomads members and visitors to cover the cost of hire of the venue. Please note that the event will be cancelled and full refunds will be made if we are unable to achieve sufficient numbers by 7th September 2023, as we need to fully cover the cost of hiring the venue. No refunds on tickets will be available after 7th September 2023, except for inability to attend due to illness including Coronavirus, or if the event is cancelled by the Event Leader.   If the event is a sellout, a wait list will be created. Unsure if you've already booked? Click View my bookings. MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 7.30pm at the entrance to the venue, ticket holders will receive address details by Wednesday 20th September 2023. DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: 20-25 km, approximately 30 minutes to drive, or 1 hour 10 minutes by public transport and walking. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: The venue is accessible by public transport. FOOD: You may bring your own drinks to the venue. Alcoholic drinks for personal consumption are permitted in the supper room adjoining the bowling area, but not in the room where we are bowling. No glass, please for safety, and ensure that no drinks at all are taken into the bowling lane area. Naturist Walk, Kangaroo Flat, South Bendigo, Views and Wildflowers
MacDonald's Kangaroo Flat
11:00 – 16:00
A pleasant naturist walk to the top of a forest ridge, just south of Bendigo for great views to the south. Lunch at the top and hopefully some wildflowers to see along the way. Bendigo generally has more sunny weather than Melbourne and its Springtime happens earlier than the Spring in Melbourne. Please Note: This walk has been postponed from Saturday 9th September to Sunday 17th September because of the freezng weather forecast on the 9th, only 14C max. GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Moderate 6.5 km circuit walk. We have designed the walk to be not too long so that we will have time to enjoy the scenery & the wildflowers, and get our legs back in shape after the winter break. Nevertheless there is a pleasant climb to the top of the ridge. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: We will first meet for a coffee and catch up at Kangaroo Flat MacDonalds. From there we will car pool or drive your own car approximately 7 km (10 mins) to the start of the walk on the edge of the forest. Clothes can be removed soon after the start of the walk as we are walking in a remote section of the forest. We will stop for a leisurely lunch on the top of the range. From here we continue for a bit further along the ridge-top and then circle back through the backcountry forest to the cars. We then plan to return to Kangaroo Flat to the Windermere Hotel bistro for cool drinks, coffee and snacks. If you wish, you can stay on for dinner which starts at 5.30pm. If you happen to be travelling by public transport, it is an 8 min (550m) walk to the train station. For details see the Public Transport section below. BOOKING: Preferably by Thursday 14th September. To register click on Get Tickets. Unsure if you've already booked? Click View my bookings. MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 11 am at MacDonald's, 166 High St, Kangaroo Flat (a southern suburb of Bendigo). High St is also the Calder Highway into Bendigo. There is a good sized parking lot at MacDonalds. If that is full there is another parking lot next door at Aldi. MAP REFERENCE: Melway map X909 grid D4 | Google map https://goo.gl/maps/nS72rptZnUP8kUQm6  AFTERNOON REFRESHMENTS LOCATION: Windermere Hotel bistro. The bistro is towards the rear of the hotel. The hotel is at 112 High St, Kangaroo Flat, 200 metres north of MacDonald's. The best parking is in the Champions IGA in Dunlop Lane behind the hotel. The hotel serves meals in the bistro starting at 5.30pm. DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: 145 km, approximately 1 hour 40 minutes via Calder Fwy/M79. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: You can catch the V/line train leaving Southern Cross at 9.05am, arriving Kangaroo Flat railway station at 10.50am. This is a very pleasant relaxing trip. From the station it is a 9 min, 750m walk to MacDonald's. There are public toilets along the way in the Kangaroo Flat Native Botanic Gardens on the left hand side in Station St as you walk to the cafe at 124 High St. For the return trip to Southern Cross there is a V/line train leaving at 4.29pm. Trains then depart regularly every hour to 1.5 hours after that, until 9.43pm. FOOD: Carry lunch, snacks and a litre of water. You can buy sandwiches and rolls at the meeting place cafe if you need to. However it may be better to bring your lunch from home so that we don't overwhelm the cafe. APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Comfortable walking boots/shoes, hat, sunscreen, dark glasses.  Shorts will be needed for the start and end of the walk. You may need a light windproof jacket when we stop for lunch. However let's hope there is no wind!
