GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Grade 2: Moderate 8 km circuit walk (graded according to the AWTGS: Australian Walking Tracks Grading System).
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: Just 150 years ago, Drouin was part of the Great Gippsland Forest. Despite overlogging, some of the giant eucalypts have survived within the current residential boundary of Drouin and today testify to incredible height, girth, age, habitat and historical value.
In addition, early pioneers planted superb elms, oaks, planes etc of substantial age, plus wonderful avenues of trees planted from the 1960s.
We will enjoy an afternoon tea/ coffee / cold drink near the station at MIDDELS to complete the walk.

MEETING TIME | LOCATION: The walk will begin at 10:00am at the Drouin Railway Station car park, Winters Ave, Drouin.

DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: 100 km. This event is designed to be accessed via public transport.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT UPDATE: Due to VLine works over January, the journey will now consist of COACH AND TRAIN travel.
We will catch A COACH to EAST PAKENHAM leaving SOUTHERN CROSS STATION COACH AREA AT 7.54am.
This coach will be an express to East Pakenham SO will NOT stop at Caulfield,Dandenong or Pakenham.
We will transfer to a Traralgon train at EAST PAKENHAM which will arrive in Drouin at 9.51 a.m. Travel Time = 2 hrs 15 minutes

For the RETURN journey, we'll catch the train departing from Drouin Station at 3:09pm.
We will transfer to a Coach service at East Pakenham station.
You will then have the option of choosing an EXPRESS COACH from East Pakenham to Southern Cross Station arriving at 5.41pm.
The other option is a Coach that STOPS at Pakenham,Dandenong and Caulfield and terminates at Caulfield Station at 5.25pm. If you wish to proceed to other sububan stations or Southern Cross Station, you can tranfer to Metro trains at Caulfield.

APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Comfortable walking boots/shoes, sun hat and dress according to the weather forecast. Drouin can be cooler than Melbourne.
