Take in the relatively unknown Frankston Nature Reserve, Sweetwater Creek board walks and the bayside foreshore in this circuit starting and finishing at Frankston Station.
GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Easy to moderate 10.5 km circuit walk.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:
From Frankston Station we catch the 11.09 am 782 bus to the Culcairn Drive stop in South Frankston, then walk some 500 metres to the entrance of the Frankston Nature Reserve and follow walking tracks around and within this reserve, which used to be a Melbourne Water reserve. After exploring these tracks, we will lunch at, and be able to enjoy the scenic view of the actual Frankston Reservoir. After lunch, we will traverse through some very relaxed and bushy suburban streets in South Frankston to connect with the Sweetwater Creek walking track, much of which is a board walk, which will take us down to the Frankston beach. We will have the choice of walking back to the station via a board walk or along the foreshore itself. Some members may wish to enjoy a summer swim! BUSES from Frankston to MORDIALLOC WILL LEAVE FRANKSTON STATION APPROX EVERY 10 MINUTES to Mordialloc THEN TRAINS TO the City so people can choose to stay longer at the beach and make their own way back to the station. Otherwise we will arrive back at the station around 3.45 pm and have a tea/coffee at a cafe near the station.
